The ascent through ridgelines
One the most rewarding treks you can do in Spiti Valley. The Balari top trek situated at an altitude of 15190 feet . You get a great output for a very little input. The Balari top trek starts from Demul which is located at an altitude of 14170 feet. The Balari top trek gives you a magnificent view of the Spiti valley and is inarguably the only place in Spiti valley from where you can spot so many villages of Spiti all at once.

Stunning views of spiti river system
. The entire river valley system lies exposed in front of you and small villages dotted throughout. On a clear day you can spot 6000+ meter peaks at distance. This little route truly gives you among the most thrilling views of Spiti valley from the top.

The route to the Balari top starts from the Demul village. The trail head lies on the only road leading to Demul from down below. If you have a car you can literally drive upto the point from where the trail starts and cut your walk short by an hour. However if you don’t have a car you will get an extra hour to soak in the beauty of Spiti. The trailhead for the Balari top starts at a white stupa near the road. From here you will have to walk. The trail goes up on a ridge line and ascends gradually. The trail then turns left where this ridge connects to another ridgeline. Continue on this ridge to reach the Balari top. From the top you will be able to observe the confluence of the Pin and Spiti river systems at a distance and a little after it the Lingti river also merges into the Spiti river. Villages of Dhankar, Mane ,Schiling ,Zaluk , Bhutak and Soshuna are visible from the top.
