Hikesdaddy Itinerary

Trek from:
Manali to Dhundi
Today you will reach Manali.Manali is a Himalayan town which is the basecamp for a lot of treks in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. After roaming around a bit in Manali you will have to set out on the road towards the Solang Valley. So there is this bridge called the Dhundi Bridge (which is leading towards the Atal/Rohtang Tunnel) at 2900 meters near which lies the trailhead of the Beas Kund trek. The trail lies ahead of the bridge and gradually goes down to rise up again. You will walk on the trail with the river to your right. You will have to do a stream crossing over a wooden bridge, the crossing is relatively easy. Within 10 minutes of this crossing, lies the campsite of Dhundi. The Dhundi Campsite is used by ABVIMAS on their training route. You will camp here for your first day. However if you want to walk a further 3-4 hours you might as well reach the 2nd camp.

Trek from:
Dhundi to Lohali
Today you will have to start early in the morning and push for the Beas Kund Basecamp. This is 3-4 hours away from the Dhundi Campsite and the incline is gradual through the forest and meadows. You will find that the views today are full of cedar and birch trees throughout the journey. Which offcourse go away after a specific altitude. In this case they vanish at 3600 meters, just before the campsite of Lohali which is at an altitude of 3800 meters. The trail to the Lohali campsite passes through sub alpine terrain, and is well marked with arrows painted on rocks. In the final leg of the trek today you will reach a log but you will not cross it.The bridge leads upto the Bakarthach Campsite used by ABVIMAS for mountaineering training courses. Just keep walking straight and you will reach the Lohali Campsite. The Bakarthach route is used for Mt.Hanuman Tibba and for ingress into the Beas Kund Valley. The lohali Campsite is a very beautiful place to be. You will be able to see icewalls up on the peaks near the campsite and various streams trickling down from the glacial meltwater. The area is usually full of flora and fauna in the summer months.
