Today is the day you have been waiting for. It is a good practice to start as early as possible whenever you are crossing a pass because the snow is stiff in the morning and as the sun gets brighter, the crossover becomes difficult due to melting of snow. As you start there will be a small section with steep incline of 30 degrees then the trail will smooth out and as you approach the Pass the trail picks up some serious altitude in a short distance with gradient being in the range of 30 to 35 degrees for around 750 meters. Or till you reach the Pass.
Once at the Pass you will be able to see the sheer contrast between the Kullu Valley and the Lahaul Valley.FunFact: Once you are at the pass you will come down and start walking to the left side to get to Lahaul. However if you were to walk on the right side you will reach a massive glacial field at the base, which eminates from the great Mt.Indrasan.
Continuing our journey towards Lahaul you will come down from the Pass make sure you come down in a criss cross way to have a steady descent. If you see snow you might use microspikes but be vary to remove them when they get jammed with snow ,otherwise you will slip.
The descend takes 30-40 minutes and you will now have descended by almost a 1000 feet. The walk till Shea Ghoru is almost levelled and you can camp wherever you want.
